In plain English

Using our website or booking with us means you agree to these terms: our booking form is a request, not a confirmed appointment, until we confirm it; longer appointments need a deposit; please give us 24 hours' notice to reschedule; and these terms don't take away any rights you legally can't waive. This page also includes our advice disclaimer (what our hair, skin and beauty content is — and isn't) and our accessibility statement. Full details below.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using Joyce African Hair Braiding & Beauty, contacting us, or booking an appointment with Joyce African Hair Braiding LLC ("we," "us," "the Company"), you agree to these Terms of Service — including the advice disclaimer and accessibility statement below, both of which are part of these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or book a service.

2. The website is informational; bookings are requests

Our website is provided for general information about our services, pricing, and studio. Submitting a booking request through the website, phone, or a booking platform is a request only — your appointment is not confirmed until we confirm it with you (by phone, text, or email).

3. Appointments, deposits, cancellations and no-shows

  • A deposit is required for appointments expected to take more than three hours.
  • Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule, so we can offer that time to another client — reschedules with 24 hours' notice or more are free of charge.
  • If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or do not show up for your appointment, your deposit will be retained.
  • We offer a 15-minute grace period for late arrival. After 15 minutes, we may need to shorten, adjust, or reschedule your appointment to protect the schedule for other clients.

4. Pricing

Prices shown on our website or booking platform are starting estimates. Final pricing depends on your hair length, thickness, condition, and the style chosen, and will be confirmed with you at consultation before we begin any work. Prices are subject to change, and applicable Texas sales tax will be added where required.

5. Your responsibilities as a client

To help us give you the best service, please arrive with clean, detangled hair (unless otherwise instructed for your specific service), and let us know about any allergies, skin or scalp sensitivities, nail conditions, medications, or pregnancy that may be relevant to your service. Withholding this information may affect the outcome or safety of your service.

6. Service limitations and health

Our services are cosmetic in nature. We are not medical, dermatological, or podiatric professionals, and we do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. We reserve the right to decline to begin, or to stop, any service if we believe it is unsafe to continue for health or safety reasons. See our advice disclaimer below for more on the limits of the guidance we share.

7. Results and satisfaction

We want you to love your results. If something isn't right, please let us know within 7 days of your appointment and we will look at it and do our best to make it right. Because our services are personal services that are performed and consumed at the time of your visit, we do not offer cash refunds for services that were completed as agreed — this is standard practice for salons and personal-care businesses.

8. Products, gift certificates, guests and children

Retail products purchased in-studio are subject to the return policy posted at the point of sale. Gift certificates are non-refundable for cash and are subject to any expiration or terms stated on the certificate. We welcome the guests you bring along, but ask that children accompanying you be supervised at all times for their safety and the safety of others in the studio. We are not responsible for personal belongings brought into the studio.

9. Photography and content license

If you consent to photos or videos of your finished service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use those images on our website, social media, and marketing materials. You may withdraw this consent and ask us to remove a photo at any time by contacting us (see Section 19).

10. Intellectual property

All text, images, graphics, and other content on Joyce African Hair Braiding & Beauty (other than photos of individual clients used with consent) belong to the Company or our licensors and may not be copied or used without our written permission.

11. User submissions and reviews

If you submit a review, testimonial, comment, or other content to us or on a third-party platform, you agree that we may reference or display it in connection with promoting our business, and that it reflects your individual experience and opinion rather than a guarantee of results for anyone else.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

Our website and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. The advice disclaimer in Section 17 below sets out further, important limits on the hair, skin, nail and beauty guidance we share.

13. Limitation of liability and indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the website or our services, and our total liability for any claim relating to a service will not exceed the amount you paid for that service. You agree to indemnify the Company against claims arising from your misuse of the website or a failure to disclose information relevant to the safety of your service. Nothing in these terms limits any right that cannot be limited under applicable law.

14. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute not resolved through the process below will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas.

15. Dispute resolution and arbitration

We'd rather resolve any disagreement directly — please contact us first (see Section 19) so we can try to work it out informally. If we can't resolve a dispute informally within 30 days, any remaining dispute (other than a claim that qualifies for small-claims court, which either party may bring there instead) will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, and disputes will be handled on an individual basis only — not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action. Where required by applicable law, you may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to the contact details in Section 19 within 30 days of first accepting these terms.

16. Severability and changes to these terms

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining terms will stay in effect. We may update these Terms of Service from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version.

17. Advice disclaimer

A note from us, in our own words

We love sharing what has worked for our clients — hair care tips, style ideas, product thoughts, and coaching from years in the chair. We genuinely care about getting it right for you. But every head, every scalp, and every situation is different, and something that worked beautifully for one client can still be wrong for you. Please read this section in full, and when in doubt, check with a specialist before you try something new.

17.1 General information only — not professional advice

All hair, nail, skin, and beauty content on this website and shared in our studio — including articles, care tips, style guides, care plans, in-salon coaching, and social media posts — is general information and personal-care guidance based on our team's professional experience as stylists and beauty practitioners. It is not medical, dermatological, podiatric, trichological, cosmetic-surgical, nutritional, or other professional advice of any kind.

17.2 It may not be right for you

Our content and coaching may be incomplete, may not account for your individual hair type, skin type, scalp condition, or health situation, and may simply be wrong for your circumstances. What worked wonderfully for one client is not a guarantee of the same result — or safety — for another.

17.3 No professional relationship is created

Reading our website, following our social media, or hearing coaching in the studio does not create a stylist–patient, professional–client, or any other professional relationship beyond the specific service you book with us.

17.4 Always consult a licensed professional first

Before starting any new product, treatment, or routine — and especially if you have a pre-existing condition — please consult a licensed professional such as a dermatologist, physician, podiatrist, trichologist, licensed cosmetologist, or other qualified expert. Do not rely solely on our website or in-studio coaching to make health or treatment decisions.

17.5 When to stop and seek professional care

Please stop and seek professional medical care if you experience any of the following: hair loss, thinning edges, or signs of traction alopecia; scalp pain, bumps, or pus; persistent itching, burning, or swelling; broken or blistered skin; unusual discoloration; nail separation or signs of infection; an allergic reaction; or anything that does not settle on its own. In an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room — do not rely on this website.

17.6 Individual results vary

Photographs and testimonials on our website and social media show individual outcomes for individual clients. They are not a guarantee that you will achieve the same or similar results.

17.7 Product mentions

When we mention specific products, this reflects our own experience and preference, not a paid endorsement, unless we expressly say otherwise. We receive no compensation for product mentions unless clearly stated.

17.8 Patch testing

Whenever a new product, dye, chemical, or treatment is being considered, we recommend a patch test on a small area of skin at least 24–48 hours beforehand to check for a reaction, and we may recommend or require this ourselves for certain services.

17.9 Pregnancy, medical conditions, and medications

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, managing an existing medical condition, or taking prescription medication (including retinoids, acne medication, blood thinners, or medication related to diabetes, circulation, or immune conditions), please talk with your physician before certain treatments and let us know so we can discuss appropriate options with you.

17.10 External links

Our website may link to third-party sites and resources for your convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for the accuracy or content of external sites.

17.11 Testimonials and reviews

Testimonials and reviews shared on our website or social media reflect the individual, subjective experience of the client who gave them and are not a guarantee of your own results.

17.12 No guarantee of accuracy; limitation of liability

We make reasonable efforts to keep our content accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or currency, and we are not liable for any decision made or harm resulting from reliance on content found on this website or shared in the studio, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

17.13 Reporting an error

If you spot something on our website that looks incorrect or out of date, we'd genuinely appreciate you letting us know — please contact us using the details in Section 19 below.

18. Accessibility statement

In plain English

We want our website and studio to be usable and welcoming for everyone, including people with disabilities. We've built the site with accessibility in mind and aim to meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard. If anything on the site is hard to use, or you'd like help booking or learning about our services another way, just call or email us.

18.1 Our commitment

Joyce African Hair Braiding LLC is committed to providing a website and studio experience that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability. We view accessibility as an ongoing effort, not a one-time project.

18.2 Standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, a widely recognized standard for web accessibility.

18.3 Measures we've taken

  • Semantic HTML structure so screen readers and other assistive technology can navigate the site logically.
  • Keyboard navigation support throughout the site.
  • Visible focus states so keyboard users can see where they are on the page.
  • A skip link to jump past repeated navigation to the main content.
  • Descriptive alt text on images.
  • Color-contrast checks against WCAG guidelines for text and interactive elements.
  • Respecting your device's reduced-motion preference where animations are used.
  • Responsive, resizable text that adapts to different screen sizes and browser zoom levels.

18.4 Known limitations

We are honest that no website is perfect. Some known limitations include: embedded third-party content, such as our Google Map or social media embeds, is provided by those platforms and may not be fully accessible, as it is outside our direct control; and some older photos in our gallery may currently have brief or minimal alt text, which we are working to improve over time.

18.5 Need assistance or an alternative format?

If any part of our website is difficult for you to use, or you'd like our service menu or pricing in another format, please contact us — our staff are happy to read you the service menu, describe our services, or take your booking over the phone.

18.6 Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website and studio. If you encounter a barrier, please let us know using the contact details in Section 19 below, and we aim to respond within five business days.

18.7 Legal framework

This statement is informed by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and, where relevant, Section 508 accessibility standards, as general reference points for our accessibility efforts.

18.8 Visiting our studio

We want your visit to our Austin studio to be comfortable and accessible. If you have questions about step-free access, parking, or anything else about the physical space before your visit, please contact us in advance and we'll be glad to help you plan.

18.9 Formal complaints

If you'd like to raise a formal accessibility complaint, please contact us using the details in Section 19 below and we will do our best to address it promptly.

This accessibility statement was last reviewed on August 17, 2026.
